Prototyping & Applied Engineering
Herdsman Technologies combines digital design, electronics, and fabrication to turn concepts into working systems. From functional prototypes to production-ready assemblies, we blend mechanical design, control electronics, and intelligent automation into cohesive, testable results.
Our workshop integrates 3D printing, electronics development, and small-scale casting to iterate quickly and validate ideas. Using multi-material printing in PETG and TPU, we create flexible, durable components and enclosures. Lost-PLA aluminium casting allows rapid transition from printed prototypes to metal parts with full mechanical strength.
On the electronics side, we develop with the ESP32 and similar microcontrollers — building boards for sensing, motion control, and wireless communication. These systems form the foundation for our accessibility devices, robotics platforms, and automation controllers.
Robotics and automation projects range from simple motion assemblies to sensor-driven systems that respond intelligently to their environment. We integrate hardware, firmware, and AI to create reliable solutions for both research and real-world applications.
Workshop Capabilities
- • Multi-material 3D printing (PETG, PLA, TPU)
- • Lost-PLA and sand casting in aluminium and bronze
- • PCB design and embedded firmware development
- • Sensor integration and control electronics
- • Robotics, automation, and motion control systems
- • Fusion 360 design and mechanical modelling
We bridge the gap between digital design and physical realisation — creating intelligent, manufacturable prototypes that evolve into finished systems. Every project is approached as a complete engineering loop: design, build, test, refine.
