Accessibility & Assistive Technology
Accessibility isn’t an afterthought at Herdsman Technologies — it’s where our story began. We design and build tools that remove barriers for people living with disabilities, enabling greater independence and control through technology.
Our projects include head-mounted gyroscopic mouse systems, voice-driven communication tools, and AI-powered interfaces that recognise faces and provide contextual support for users with memory or cognitive challenges. Each device or application is designed for reliability, simplicity, and dignity in daily use.
We prototype using open-hardware platforms like the ESP32 and Raspberry Pi, combining sensors, cameras, and adaptive control systems to create custom assistive solutions. Machine learning models, both on-device and cloud-based, are integrated carefully to enhance rather than complicate the user experience.
Whether developing new accessibility hardware or refining an existing workflow, we focus on the end user — ensuring that every innovation genuinely improves comfort, confidence, and autonomy.
Collaboration
We work directly with individuals, carers, and therapists to co-design solutions that meet real-world needs. If you’re exploring adaptive technologies or want to collaborate on inclusive innovation, contact us at wade@herdsman.au.
